Manager's New Role
Here' a good way to sum up the manager's role in today's environment which I learned from a management seminar.
In the past, managers managed workers. Now more and more, all of the employee's will manage themselves and leaders will manage the environment in which they work.
I applied this principle which is in conflict with many traditional styles. Getting out of the box is often required.

Driver Attendance
The key to having a successful attendance program is to address each occurrence in a timely manner and let the employee know where they stand. It's amazing how many times a person will think about not coming in but changes there mind when they know it will be addressed when they return.
You will find if you start slacking off on the follow up the absent rate slowly starts increasing.

Opening Post
This is a new avenue for me to discuss the many areas of bus transportation I've experienced through the years.
I've driven and maintained school, city, and recliner type buses. I've enjoyed working with and then managing drivers, mechanics, and administrative personnell.
My greatest satisfaction is the sense of accomplishment derived from empowering and then seeing the success of quality people.
I'm open to discuss all facets of transportation from maintenance, administration and employee development.
I look forward to learning from this site as much as being of any help.
